Sedwick’s Treasure Auction 23 to feature PCGS-graded coins

A wide variety of rarities graded by PCGS are set to draw heavy bidding during Daniel Frank Sedwick, LLC’s Treasure, World, U.S. Coin and Paper Money Auction 23 to be held live online on May 15 and 16, 2018.

• Lot 24 – Lima, Peru, cob 2 escudos, 1708H, graded PCGS MS62, ex-1715 Fleet. Estimate: $4,000 to $6,000.

Lot 24: a Lima, Peru, cob 2 escudos, struck during the reign of King Philip V of Spain and lost while en route to Spain while aboard a vessel in the 1715 Fleet.

• Lot 27 – Bogota, Colombia, cob 4 escudos, 1753S, graded PCGS XF45, ex-Eldorado. Estimate: $3,500 to $5,000.
• Lot 46 – Bogota, Colombia, cob 1 escudo, posthumous Charles II, no assayer (Arce), graded PCGS AU58, ex-1715 Fleet. Estimate: $1,750 to $2,500.
• Lot 84 – USA (Carson City mint), $1 Morgan, 1878-CC, die gouges in wings (VAM 27), graded PCGS MS 65. Estimate: $1,000 to $1,500.
• Lot 124 – Argentina (La Rioja mint), 2 escudos, 1843RB, graded PCGS MS 62. Estimate: $2,000 to $3,000.

• Lot 991 – Cartagena, Colombia, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer E below mintmark RN to left (1626-30), graded PCGS VF30, ex-Eldorado.
• Lot 1103 – Bogota, Colombia (Cundinamarca, “Libertad Americana”), 2 reales, 1819JF, graded PCGS AU55. Estimate: $1,250 to $2,000.
• Lot 1166 – Costa Rica (struck in Birmingham, England), 25 centavos, 1890-HEATON BIRMM, graded PCGS MS65. Estimate: $1,000 to $1,500.
• Lot 1174 – Costa Rica, 50 centimos, 1903JCV, graded PCGS MS62. Estimate: $800 to $1,200.
